About Videstra.

As of January 2025, Videstra has been purchased by Heartland Video Systems, Inc. HVS will sell, support, and continue to develop the Videstra product line for existing customers and new opportunities / projects. Dan Desjardins will remain on staff and will be supporting the integrating of Videstra into the HVS family.

The staff at Videstra have decades of industry experience. We are focused exclusively on live streaming cameras for news, sports, weather and web. We specialize in technology that makes sense out of the complex world of live, local cameras so users can focus on making great television rather than navigating difficult software.

The name Videstra (vi-des-truh) is a portmanteau that combines video and finestra (the Italian word for window), and captures our focus to open windows to the world, through video!

Dan Desjardins

Founder and CTO

Dan is the technology visionary for Videstra, LLC and leads the team of developers, designers and operations towards cutting-edge solutions for the broadcast industry.

Previously Dan held management and development roles for NewStar, iNEWS, Weather Central/WSI and Sound Devices. He spent 12 years working in several U.S. television stations and considerable time in newsrooms throughout the world, including Ireland, England, Scotland, Germany, Russia, South Africa and Asia.
